TDOT will deploy Geotab's core telematics hardware alongside integrated forward-facing cameras across its vehicle fleet. State DOT fleets are notoriously complex — snowplows, highway maintenance trucks, and specialized equipment each generate different data streams. Geotab consolidates that into a single dashboard, pulling in engine diagnostics, PTO engagement, and real-time asset location simultaneously.

The camera integration goes beyond simple recording. Forward-facing video gives fleet managers visual confirmation of route conditions and operator behavior, tightening the feedback loop between field crews and the back office. Geotab's platform also supports proactive maintenance triggers based on actual vehicle use — not fixed schedules — which cuts unplanned downtime on assets that can't afford to sit idle.

TDOT's deal also positions the agency for future growth. Geotab's open platform supports third-party software integrations, meaning TDOT can bolt on specialized tools as operational needs expand without ripping out foundational infrastructure.
